MLT Motorsports Has Solid Showing at Sebring

Sebring, FL (March 13, 2023) – The MLT Motorsports team demonstrated their tenacity at Sebring International Raceway over the weekend in two rounds of IMSA VP Racing sports Car Challenge action. During Saturday’s 15-minute qualifying session, the No. 54 went off track and had to get towed out. This meant a come-from-behind effort was needed, and the team did not disappoint.

As the sun rose on Sunday, Adrian Kunzle buckled in and navigated his way from the back to finish sixth in the first of two races. In just 45 minutes, Kunzle sliced and diced his way from the back in the No. 54 MLT Motorsports Ligier JS P320.

“After a disappointing qualifying run, race one was so much fun,” said Kunzle following the race. “The two-class racing provides for so many overtaking opportunities, and I made the most of the late yellow to gain a few more places.”

Lap one of the second race saw an incident that involved the No. 54 and sent Kunzle to the back of the field for the re-start. The field took the green flag 10 minutes into the 45-minute race, and Kunzle worked his way up to finish 10th.

“The incident at the start of race two put me at the very back of the field, but I made good progress and was happy with the result and finish.” Kunzle continued, “It could have ended very differently. Overall, the team was awesome, and we had a great tire strategy through the weekend.”

Team manager Eric VanBibber agreed, stating, “The performance of the entire MLT Motorsports team and Adrian was spot on this weekend. We’re very happy with the results.”

The MLT Motorsports returns to action for the VP Racing Challenge July 7-9 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park as part of the IMSA WeatherTech SprotsCar Challenge Chevrolet Grand Prix weekend.

Founded in 2018 by Dr. Mike Thompson, MLT Motorsports has established itself as a premier team amongst the IMSA paddock in the LMP3 category. Based near Road Atlanta the team has easy access to some of the best road courses in the country and importantly Florida, where the sportscar racing world kicks off every winter at Daytona and Sebring. Parlaying the success of 2021 Championship MLT made its IMSA Weathertech Championship debut at Mid-Ohio in May of 2022 joining the ranks of the best sportscar teams in the world.
