Founded in 2018 by Dr. Mike Thompson, MLT Motorsports has quickly established itself as a premier team in the IMSA paddock, excelling in the LMP3 category. Based near Road Atlanta, the team benefits from proximity to some of the best road courses in the country, including those in Florida, where the sports car racing season begins each winter with iconic events at Daytona and Sebring. MLT’s commitment to constant investment, rigorous maintenance, and state-of-the-art equipment ensures their race cars are prepared to compete at the highest level every race weekend.

The team's early success was a testament to their hard work and expertise, with their first victory achieved in just their second start at Mid-Ohio in 2019. In the 2021 season, MLT Motorsports delivered a dominant performance, finishing off the podium only once and securing a double championship win: the IMSA Prototype Challenge Team’s Championship and Driver’s Championship with drivers Dakota Dickerson and Josh Sarchet.

Building on this momentum, MLT Motorsports made their IMSA WeatherTech Championship debut at Mid-Ohio in May 2022, stepping up to compete alongside the best sports car teams in the world. In 2024, the team celebrated another milestone achievement, winning the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Series Driver's Championship, solidifying its reputation as a formidable force in motorsports.
