Cicero and Dickerson On the Top Step of the Podium
Lexington, OH (September 26, 2020) – MLT Motorsports returned to Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course on Saturday, home of their maiden victory in 2019, and once again took the checkered flag. Dominic Cicero and Dakota Dickerson paired for the victory, edging the team closer to the top spot in the season championship. Just six points out of the overall lead, MLT Motorsports sits in second place with one round to go in the championship.
Cicero started the race on the front row, after qualifying the Ligier P3 in second position on Friday. Driving a near-perfect stint, he turned the car over to Dickerson after the pit stop. Dickerson quickly worked his way to the lead and never looked back, leading the final 29 laps of the race.
“It was a great team performance,” said Eric VanBibber, team manager MLT Motorsports. “We were quick in practice, great qualifying, great pit stop and amazing drives by Dom and Dakota. We couldn’t have scripted a better race weekend. It’s a great feeling to get back on the top step of the podium, especially at my home track.”
Early contact did cause some minor damage to the #54 Ligier, but the robust chassis performed well, and Cicero and Dickerson where able to work around the challenges. Both drivers commented on how well the car performed over the course of the 1-hour and 45-minute race.
MLT Motorsports heads to the final round of the series at Road Atlanta in three weeks – where they look to have another strong on-track performance, and fight for the win and overall championship.
