Braselton, GA (July 16, 2020) – MLT Motorsports will take to the track this weekend at Sebring International Raceway, after the extended break due to the Covid 19 global pandemic. The team scored a podium finish in the series opener at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona back in January and looks to capitalize on the strong run in Sebring.
Dakota Dickerson will share driving responsibilities with veteran racer Dominic Cicero, after it was determined travel restriction on Canadian teammate Dean Baker would prevent him from competing in Florida.
“IMSA has worked diligently on behalf of the series drivers to assist non-US residents in obtaining permission to attend the races,” stated Eric VanBibber, team manager MLT Motorsports. “Unfortunately there are still some restrictions for certain countries regarding returning home, so Dean decided it was best to skip this round of the series. We look forward to Dean joining the team at the track again later this season.”
While Cicero is new to the IMS Prototype Challenge Series, he is no stranger to IMSA competition, having raced in multiple classes for the past 15 years. He is also a professional driver coach, with many of his clients racing P3 cars, so he is very familiar and comfortable behind the wheel of the Ligier JSP3 chassis.
“I am really looking forward to racing with Dakota and for MLT Motorsports. We raced against each other in the F3 Americas Championship, so I know firsthand how fast he is. Dakota has an impressive racing resume, including three podiums in this series, with one victory. MLT Motorsports is equally impressive, being a relatively new team that is packed with experience, and the results speak for themselves. I can’t wait to hit the track this weekend,” added Cicero.
After a successful debut season in the IMSA Prototype Challenge Series in 2019, including the team’s first series victory, MLT Motorsports looks to challenge for the championship in 2020. Dickerson and Baker currently sit third in the championship standings.
Look for the new purple and orange livery on track this weekend and follow the team on social media for frequent updates from the track.
